Driver Supervisor

Diss · As a Driver Supervisor within our Diss Depot, you are responsible for the day to day performance of our transport operations. Working as part of a team of several Driver Supervisors, with support available from the Operations and Senior Operations Managers, your role is to oversee the real time operation of our transport services, proactively intervening to prevent or mitigate disruption where you can, and reactively responding to incidents where required.

What you'll do

  • • Primary responsibility for all operations from depot location at all times when on duty to ensure full coverage
  • • Oversee daily runout of all drivers and vehicles
  • • Address any shortfalls in driver report/vehicle availability which impact full service delivery, to include direct driving as required and necessary to avoid lost journeys/mileage
  • • Ensure driver compliance with vehicle walk round checks, defect and accident reporting. Conduct initial investigations with drivers into accidents or reported incidents/complaints
  • • Minimise and resolve impact on full service delivery of any incidents/occurrences while on duty, and communicate any such disruptions to appropriate team members
  • • Complete daily and forward driver duty and rota allocation, in compliance with relevant drivers hours regulations
  • • Liaise effectively with engineering and other team colleagues to maximise vehicle availability for full service delivery
  • • Ensure service buses are continuously stocked with relevant timetable leaflets and promotion material
  • • Promote a safety led culture, and report/action any issues or breaches in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and promote a tidy and clean work environment with all depot colleagues• Support driver training and development, including route training and familiarisation; lead and motivate driving colleagues to excel in their role

What we're looking for

  • • Proven experience as a bus/coach driver
  • • Strong understanding of transport industry regulations (e.g., CPC, DVSA, vehicle & driver compliance)
  • • Ability to supervise, support and motivate drivers
  • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • • Ability to work flexibly (including early mornings, evenings, weekends as required)
