PSV Engineer - Stanstead
Stansted · We are seeking a skilled PSV Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our growing fleet of buses and coaches to the highest safety and reliability standards. Working on a shift basis, you will perform diagnostic tests, carry out repairs and maintenance, conduct pre-MOT inspections, and ensure all vehicles meet DVSA regulations and safety requirements.
About the role
We are seeking a skilled PSV Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our growing fleet of buses and coaches to the highest safety and reliability standards. Working on a shift basis, you will perform diagnostic tests, carry out repairs and maintenance, conduct pre-MOT inspections, and ensure all vehicles meet DVSA regulations and safety requirements.
What you'll do
- Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on buses, coaches and heavy goods vehicles to identify faults and maintenance needs
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on mechanical and electrical components, including engines, brakes, transmissions and suspension systems
- Conduct pre-MOT inspections to ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards and safety regulations
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, time taken and completion dates
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs to get vehicles back in service quickly
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure vehicle reliability, quality control and consistent maintenance standards
- Stay current with industry best practices and new technology developments in bus and coach maintenance
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with buses, coaches or HGV vehicles
- Relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or related field, such as NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems including engines, suspension, braking and electrical systems
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to health and safety standards and DVSA regulations
- Full, clean driving licence
- Experience with roadside and emergency breakdown repairs
- Knowledge of modern diagnostic equipment and technology
- Experience working on multiple vehicle types within a busy maintenance environment
